Tuesday's Topic: Traveling

I decided early on that today’s topic would be “traveling” as I knew I’d be spending a good portion of the day traveling. Little did I know that I’d end up spending the entire day waiting for one event to blend into the next. I waited for my husband to get home so I could leave. I waited for traffic on the way to the air port. I waited to fine a parking spot in the over crowded lot. I waited to go through security, sit on the train and then waited at the gate.

Then I waited to find out my flight was delayed and was told I had to wait to find out more information while we all waited to de-board the plane. Then we waited to re-board and waited to take off…

Thankfully, I arrived at my destination in one piece and glad to be on the ground.

I’ve always loved to travel. Today I learned, it’s not the act of the traveling I enjoy the most… its the arrival at a new destination.

Just a simple doodle this week, it’s hard enough to wait all day – packing and unpacking and repacking and adjusting the travel bags… I couldn’t possibly draw in the midst of the turbulance as well ~wink

Sweet dreams and happy Tuesday!

Illustrating Plain

Illustration Friday’s topic this week is “plain”… of course something yummy came to mind. How could I possibly turn down the opportunity to day dream about ice cream and all that fabulous-ness that it is? The idea… delicious doesn’t have to be fancy.

I call it “Loving Ice Cream”.

I had so much fun with this one that I came up with a few variations… here’s another:

As always,  Loving Ice Cream is available for purchase on a variety of gift and apparel products.

Celebrating life today

Today is Celebration of Life Day, a day to honor the gift of children and grandchildren, sponsored by National Children & Family Awareness of America.

I couldn’t find any further information about the sponsor, so I have no idea who they are or what they really do. However, every day is fantastic day to celebrate life, in my opinion.

Children are an inspiration for betterment and advancement. Children are a view into our future and reminder of our past. Every opportunity I have to see the world through the eyes of a child, is a great day for me. Their innocent view and eagerness to explore is a refreshing perspective to any busy grown up day.

My children are my daily dose of joy (even on those not so joyful, overly exhausted days).

MLK's Humanitarianism, Strawberry Ice Cream and Kitty Hugs

Happy Tuesday! Today is…

Today is Martin Luther King’s birthday and as a day of respect in honor of this day, it is also Humanitarian Day.

Birthday Boy 2

But just in case your more of an animal lover, today is also Hug Your Cat Day. I personally won’t be hugging any critters of the feline family – it’s not itch and sneeze day.

One can never have too many cats

Today is National Strawberry Ice Cream Day. I say, if you’re not a fan of strawberry, have a bowl of your favorite flavor – just make sure to think fondly of the strawberry and think happy birthday thoughts for MLK.

For those of you who may have forgotten to rest or resolute or rationalize… And my favorite reason to celebrate today – this week – Today is New Year’s Day for procrastinators. (yet another reason for some ice cream – grin)

Have a move joyous day!

Today is… my delight with Tuesday's Topic

Today has quite a few fun things associated with the day, but I picked a few of my favorites to share with you…

Today is National Eat Something Raw Day.

I just tried sashimi a few weeks ago for the first time. I was brave and tasted a number of raw ocean critters… none of which will be near the top of my list any time soon. On that thought… also today in history, (1992) President Bush collapsed during a state dinner in Tokyo, and threw up on Japanese Prime Minister Kiichi Miyazawa.

See? very bad to eat something raw, even if it is suggested today – wink

And while I’m thinking of sushi, check out these fun JGoode original sushi doodles.

Also today…

Today is Elvis’s birthday. He would be 72.

I think I’m too young to be a part of the Elvis craze or be facinated by the, um, facination. Regardless, of how little I know about him, I think Elvis is fabulous!

Today is Show and Tell Day at work.

This is my work.. so does this count as my showing and telling?

Today is National Bubble Bath Day.

I think this means that I should honor the day and go take a bath. Oh the relaxation is just screaming my name…

Happy Tuesday!

My Secret Santa

I just received the best package ever! A week or so ago I posted about a gift I sent for an exchange I signed up for this year… well my gift arrived today and I absolutely love it.

Colleen Maney from Colleen’s Critter Creations sent me the cutest skiing penguin figure, 2 penguin coasters from printfection and the funniest card ever…

The card front has a beautiful dog carrying a santa hat in its mouth (Colleen has some fabulous photography, check it out when you get a chance). The card reads…

“Do you know what happened to santa claus?” and inside it says “I found a way to make the ‘naughty’ list disappear. You may get what you want this year and more!”

HA! ‘Tis the season for some ho ho ho…

Thank you Colleen!!
