Image a Day

Or my clouds are full of happy tweets, or something like that. I just discovered Tweetcloud – yet another fun and not necessarily needed silly utility, and of course I am already hooked. Anything to distract my attention from being productive on something tangible right?

You can’t make this stuff up… I really am this sappy happy all the time. (don’t tell my kids they’re swear you’re lying).

Ok, I suppose you could make it up, but why would you? Just be happy!

Chanukah this year is December 11th through December 19th, and although I myself am not Jewish, I have heard wonderful things about the scrumptious food during the holiday season. One in particular I want to try is Latkes. So a few years ago, while talking to my friend Jean over at Rotem Gear, I made special shirt design inspired by her… Latkes Girl.

Now I need to get a hold of some and try them myself! Anyone have a simple recipe I could try?

Got the family together and headed down to the Denver Zoo tonight to check out the member premier of the annual Zoo Lights. It was pretty cold, even for this Colorado crowd, but nothing a few extra layers and hot chocolate with peppermint schnapps can’t handle. Everything is lit up with twinkling lights and holiday spirit. We loved it!

My favorite scene from the Denver Zoo lights was near the end of the night… a seascape in magical blue lights with a big blue whale, fancy pink seahorse and even a wiggly purple octopus.

I recently discovered Daily Booth, a site that is there simply to share a photo a day with friends.  I started to take a picture of my own smilie face and then the penguins cut in and took over. Such is the way of a penguin.

Today’s image is inspired by both Illustration Friday’s “music” topic for the week and my recent discovery of snowflake design.

For years I’ve wanted to sit down and figure out what I can do with a snowflake, and then just yesterday I realized how it works. I am loving the idea of purposeful design turning into an abstract thing of beauty. I’m not going through and measuring every piece of the snowflake design, so when the final image appears it’s somewhat of a surprise even to me. One more reason art remains a thing of magic to me.

Some days you just need to wake up and start the day off feeling as fabulous as fabulous gets. Those are the kinds of days I wish I had more often… instead of my usual “wow I should really start that work out plan today”.
